sweat and tears
Just when I thought it couldn't get any hotter. It did. Today at one stage it was 40 degrees IN MY KITCHEN. Did I mention how much I hate the heat? And now that I've mentioned how much I HATE the heat, it might be a good time to mention how much Jude hates it too. So much so that he spent a good two hours sobbing inconsolably rather than napping. Napping is much nicer. At one stage I rocked him in front of the airconditioner (I should point out that this is an airconditioner purchased from pissweak productions for far too much money), for nearly an hour and that soothed him but every time I stopped rocking or moved away from the vents he started up again. It was just bloody awful. Thankfully Edie was napping, otherwise there would have been three of us sobbing. Instead it was just two of us. Bim had a lucky escape by being at work.
The day improved late in the afternoon when we visited our neighbours to bask in their airconditioning for a little while. That was very nice. Edie and Jude were like fresh sparkling children after fifteen minutes. Later we visited the pool, this time it was open, and had a good splash and a frolic. Half an hour into the swim we looked at Jude in his little swimming ring and he was fast asleep. Poor little chap. He's still asleep now.
Speaking of sleep, sometimes on days like this it just takes over, but boy is it hot when you're blanketed with a sweaty little body, lovely as she is.
Did you know it's only going to be 18 degrees in Hobart next Wednesday? And rainy. Hmmm. Cold and rainy. Actually I'm dreaming of those so-up-to-the-minute-they're-30-seconds-ago ice bars that have opened in the city. I could handle sitting on a block of ice right now. Now there's an idea.
Right, well, I'll be off then.

Oh I feel for you, really! This change feels nice though... Arky actually slept until 8am this morning - unheard of! Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Loving the change. Hating the fact I left my washing on the line! Looking forward to tomorrow too.
